Job description

NMS recruit are seeking an enthusiastic 1st & 2nd Line IT Engineer to join a global leading chemical company based in Manchester. Our client is looking to strengthen the IT team to support the growth of the business. The internal IT department provides support to a variety of internal
customers, all with their unique support requirements and needs and works with a variety of external partners to maintain and develop the IT infrastructure.

You will be a proactive, self-motivated individual with a strong customer service ethic. The ideal candidate will be organised and disciplined enough to work on their own initiative and manage their workload with minimal supervision, acting as the 1st and 2nd line support to the business as required.

Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of, maintain and report on helpdesk support tickets and the effectiveness of IT support to the business.
  • Standardisation of IT systems, policies, procedures, set-up and documentation.
  • Monitoring and reporting on key security factors and progressing security improvements in line with the IT strategy and best practice.
  • Work with suppliers and partners on IT maintenance and change projects, developing working relationships and demanding best practice service.
  • Report on and provide feedback on supplier performance to improve service.
  • Be the first point of contact for user support and deliver prioritised solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, security and resilience within the IT infrastructure.
  • Support the development of IT solutions, including user training on IT technology to improve efficiency.
  • Carrying out agreed IT maintenance activities and assisting with Service Desk tickets to help, providing excellent service to colleagues.

Essential Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in 1st / 2nd Line support ideally in an SME environment- On-Prem/Hybrid/Remote User Support, Helpdesk Support, Active Directory, SharePoint online, VoIP System Admin.
  • Basic Hardware Support.
  • Microsoft 365 Admin.
  • Vendor management.
  • GCSE IT or equivalent.

Desirable Experience
  • Veeam products.
  • VMWare products.
  • ERP system administration experience.
  • Mobile Device Management experience.
  • Involvement in Project Work.
  • Microsoft Certification.
  • ITIL experience/qualification.
