A great opportunity has arisen for a IT Manager to join an established growing business within the manufacturing industry. You will be an ambitious hands on IT Manager with strong leadership skills that will analyse, develop/facilitate and support cost effective business applications, systems and processes. Assist in the implementation of enhanced business processes supported by Sage ERP (or similar ERP) and wherever possible, integrate the MIS element of Sage ERP. Ensure the network/s, data, information, applications and systems are secure from both internal and external threats at all times maintaining Cyber Essentials plus accreditation and other such standards as required by our customers/industry best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, manage and monitor tasks and projects within the IT Department ensuring compliance with cost and time deadlines
  • Identify Company wide Business processes that can be improved through appropriate use of IT/IS resources and technologies. To actively implement process improvement where there is a compelling cost benefit case.
  • Provide a high level of IT/IS support that helps deliver/facilitates profitable revenue and cost savings.
  • Ensure that hardware and software is maintained, updated and reviewed in line with manufacturers, operating and applications vendor recommendations/instructions, whilst supporting company cash flow constraints and operating requirements.
  • Ensure a policy of financial and IT/IS operational prudence is pursued safeguarding the assets and data of the company. Comprehensive backup routines for all applications and systems, including off-site data storage, site to site auto failovers etc must be developed and maintained.
  • Ensure our IT systems and networks facilitate adherence to the company's obligations under the Data Protection Act and to maintain an active role in the company's GDPR committee.
  • Develop the technical requirements/infrastructure for the MIS requirements of the company - across all functions.
  • Develop and maintain the technical infrastructure that supports compliance with business needs and the quality systems.
  • Be responsible for the management, maintenance and uptime of the company's internal/external network and communication systems.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that maintenance and support contracts for IT/IS systems, services, hardware, networks support and protect the business needs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Manage service providers to defined and agreed business relevant service levels in the most cost-effective manner possible.
  • Liaise with I.T. colleagues to establish common operating platforms to enable easier/better/secure/private inter- company working e.g. VOIP, Videoconferencing, file sharing.
  • Liaise with customers I.T. departments to provide secure/reliable/accurate e-trading facilities/platforms as necessary - within the context of an agreed business case.
  • Help advise, develop and maintain the technical infrastructure and best practice operation/service standards for the company's website.

Experience

  • Formal qualification in Information Technology or Information systems. For example, ITIL would be useful in this regard.
  • Strong P/L focus and ability to deliver IT/IS solutions that positively impact the bottom line.
  • Excellent track record in delivering IT/IS projects.
  • Experience of ISO 27001, and the role the IT department plays in supporting ISO9001 and ISO13485 is desirable.
  • Working within manufacturing or commercial environment.
  • Practical experience of network and process mapping.
  • Leadership experience and ability to manage staff effectively. Experience of formally training users in new applications
  • Able to plan and prioritise own workload.
  • Able to work quickly to a high degree of accuracy and precision under pressure.
  • Able to anticipate and solve a range of work-related problems using own initiative within the remit of the role.
  • Literate and able to present written and verbal I.T. reports/policies etc.
  • Good knowledge and practice of process improvement
  • Good practical, technical understanding and practical knowledge of Windows, Windows server platforms, Hyper-V, and the Microsoft Technology Stack.
